Hi guys, we are Jarett and Nicole! We are so excited to be starting this blog to help you or a loved one who is struggling with celiac disease or gut issues. Ever since we suspected that Jarett might have celiac disease, we have been experimenting with different diets and lifestyle changes to find him the healing that he needs.
A little more about us
Jarett and I met at college in Montana. After three years of dating we got married! It has been almost a year now and the time has flown by!
We love spending time outdoors, hiking, camping, and exploring new places. Our dream is to move out of town and start a small farm where we can grow our own food, raise animals, and live a natural lifestyle.
A new way of living
Because of celiac disease, our lives have changed completely. Before Jarett’s diagnosis, we lived the normal American life when it came to food and health. Foods filled with processed sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and other additives were a big part of our diet.
We drank soda, juice, and sports drinks more often than water. We went to bed late even when we had to get up early for work the next morning. If we were sick and the doctor prescribed antibiotics, we took them no questions asked. Jarett’s poor digestive system didn’t stand a chance at this rate.
We did all of these things and didn’t think anything of it because….. well let’s face it, that’s normal!
Our new way of living
After Jarett was diagnosed with celiac disease, our lives began to change, slowly at first, and then more rapidly as we began to figure things out. Now, our lives are completely different. Our diet consists of whole, nutritious, real foods and we make all of our meals from scratch. It can be difficult and time consuming, but it is all worth it if it makes Jarett feel better!
We were thrown into a gluten free lifestyle by necessity. In fact, before all of this, Jarett was the last one to make a fuss about what he was eating. For me, food sensitivities and allergies were the last thing on my radar. I never had to deal with them growing up so I didn’t see them as that big of a deal.
Well, let me tell you, they are a BIG DEAL! Coming from me, that says a lot. We wish we didn’t have to deal with gut issues, life would be so much simpler. However, since we do, we’ve accepted it, and pushed ahead full force to find healing. We are just ordinary people trying to do our best.
In this blog we will never lie and tell you that our lives were instantly changed, or that living this way is easy. We know how hard it is to try and get healed, so we aren’t going to sugar coat things.
We want to share our experiences in a completely truthful and transparent way. Everything we post, will be something we wholeheartedly believe in. We wouldn’t expect anything less from someone we were looking to get advice from.
Let’s Get Started!
Through this blog we want to share our experiences to help you find healing faster! We know what it’s like to live with gut issues and the constant frustration of being sick ALL the time even after you’ve changed your diet.
Whether you were recently diagnosed and looking for help, or it feels like you have tried everything to find healing and nothing seems to be working, we hope our blog will help you find the answers that you need!
